Prospect recently completed a project looking at LP appetite for impact private equity in Europe.
Client
We worked with a pan-European impact investor that generates social impact through sector-specific growth and early-stage buyout investments.
Goal
Prospect mapped the European LP universe and identified institutions that are actively investing in impact private equity. From these, we qualified those that matched our client’s strategy and provided a detailed report on each relevant LP.
Process and Outcomes
2,000+ LPs screened
Unsuitable LPs were filtered out from more than 2,000 names. A longlist of more than 300 institutions to target was compiled.
300+ LPs reviewed
We then refined this list of more than 300 through background research, filtering out unsuitable LPs such as those with no appetite for our client’s investment strategy, geography, fund size, stage, etc.
70+ LPs profiled
We reached out to more than 70 shortlisted LPs to understand how each approaches private markets investing, what they look for in fund managers, and future allocation plans for the asset class.
In parallel to this targeted outreach, we continued thorough background research to identify any institutions that the initial screen did not flag.
Our outreach was summarised in an overview report, highlighting the LPs we recommended our client should build relationships with, as well as those that would not be a good fit.
40 LPs delivered
40 of the profiled LPs were a match with our client’s investment strategy. In-depth reports covering investment appetite, key individuals, and background information were delivered.
